FORMAT:

36 holes of stroke play qualifying. Each participant will play an 18-hole morning round at either Big Canyon CC or Newport Beach CC then switch to the other course for their afternoon 18-hole round. Qualifiers will advance to the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California on June 13 – 16, 2019.

The official number of qualifying spots will be announced by the Committee on the morning of the qualifier. In the event of a tie for the last qualifying place or an alternate's position, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff immediately following the conclusion of play at Big Canyon CC.

REGISTRATION:

Players must register with SCGA/USGA staff upon arrival on Monday morning at their designated first round course. The registration table at both courses will be located near their practice putting greens.

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS:

Starting times and pairings for both rounds will be emailed to players and posted online at scga.org one week in advance of the qualifier.

Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss and distribute to each player in the group. Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late. Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive in time to watch the group in front of them tee off.

PRACTICE ROUNDS:

Each club will host one complimentary practice round per player. Practice rounds will be issued on a space available basis at the sole discretion of the clubs and will generally only be available during the afternoon. Contestants must contact each club in advance to arrange a practice round: Big Canyon CC - (949) 644-5404 / Newport Beach CC - (949) 644-9680. Contestants must wait to call the clubs until the week of May 20 once the roster for the qualifier is finalized.

If players wish to ride during the practice round, the cart fee at each course will be $22 per player. Players should not arrive earlier than 45 minutes prior to their practice round time. In general, the club’s dining facilities will not be available during practice rounds.
